With the unseasonably warm weather conditions we've been having it's still astonishing to find buds appearing on our fruit trees at the allotment. This time last year, it would have been impossible to push a spade into the ground, even if I had managed to extract myself from the armchair and the fire.
Now the festivities are over, I'll be focusing my attention once again to the growing year ahead. It will be exciting to see last years hard work pay off when the first fruits start to appear in the summer. Until then, I will be planning and preparing the vegetable beds for sowing in early spring and building some cages for the soft fruit beds.
To fellow allotmenteers everywhere, I wish you a happy and successful growing year.
